You’re so fine you blow my mind

by Me on Dec.28, 2008, under Boy People

Hey, Ricky! Hey, Ricky! (Yes, I know it’s supposed to be ‘Mickey’ but, as a parent, I am allowed to occasionally take liberties with song lyrics.)

So, yeah, that’s enough of that dreary stuff.

Before I do anything else, I feel I must make my baby welcome to the blogosphere. Yes, that’s right, Ricky now has a blog. It’s another Christmas present but I didn’t get it finished until today because I’m just occasionally lame like that.

I probably should have gotten him to think of a different name. Sometime around the time he’s fifteen or sixteen, when it becomes terribly important to him to be terminally cool, he’s not going to want that domain name anymore.

Too bad, baby!

Meanwhile, I think I need to get myself out of the habit of going to bed at 8 a.m. That’s going to get inconvenient when school starts again. It’s going to make work tough, too.

So, today, I’m going to bed an hour early, at around 7 a.m. If I’m lucky, by the time I get up later today, Ricky will have started blogging. :)

It’s so nice to have you back where you belong

by Me on Dec.24, 2008, under Around the web, Stuff

Notice anything different?

Yes, we’re sporting a new look. I took my courage into my hands and upgraded to the very, very, very latest version of WordPress (at least, until tomorrow, when I’m positive the geekful little farts will release 2.7.1 or something).

And, while I was at it, I thought I’d give this blog a less business-like look. That’s the mood I was in but I’m not in that mood anymore.

Tough. It’s my blog. Suck up and deal with it.

While at it, I’ve done some blogroll weeding, duly saddened by folks for whom I have long since fallen off the end of the world, who have themselves fallen off the end of my world.

Ah well. It’s probably no biggie. I have very little doubt that everybody’s over at twitter by now.

I am, by the way. Yes, that’s right, for once I was not the very last one to get into the Next Big Thing. Hey, even Gina didn’t know about it until I turned her on to it.

Makes me feel not quite so old.

So, yeah. If you want to follow me, you can. Just be warned. I’m wearing my uber-knowledgeable, expert businesswoman hat over there, so I’m not anywhere near as much fun. You might get bored.

Just so you know.

So, enjoy the new furniture. I’m going to finish dusting but I’ll be around if the cyber elves do anything rude …

Hello, my friend, we meet again

by Me on Dec.17, 2008, under Stuff

It’s getting to be about that time of year.

No, no … not the Christmas holidays.

(Ha! Faked you out, didn’t I?)

No, I’m talking about the time of year when I apologize to you for being so silent and then faithfully promise to stop that. And then I blog here for awhile. And then I get busy and fall silent again.

Not sure what it is about this time of year that makes me start with the personal blogging — I keep up my business blog all year, of course — but around mid-December I always seem to come back here with my tail between my legs.

But that’s uncomfortable. So, I’m not going to do that this time.

I never did get that job with K-mart, by the way. I guess they took a look at the retail numbers and decided to make due with the staff they have. So, I’m not any less broke than I have been. But I have made plans to becomes significantly less broke next year. We’ll see how that goes.

I’m on hiatus from my newsletter right now (which might, now that I think about it, explain why I suddenly find myself with the time for personal blogging right around this time every year), and I’m enjoying having the pressure off for a little bit.

Which is not to say I have nothing to do. That’s probably not going to happen until I’m dead.

But I think we can expect to hear from Me a little more often. At least for a few weeks.
