Earth to me

by Me on Jun.02, 2005, under Doing business

I wonder what’s wrong with me?

I’m having the hardest time making myself do anything, it’s really annoying.

No, you don’t understand. I have a mountain of work to do, I always do. I have a newsletter to write. I have a novel to write. I have a new fiction release to promote.

All I seem to want to do is sit here and play Free Cell.

This sucks.

Busy, busy … again

by Me on Apr.01, 2005, under Doing business

I just got back and I’m a tired but happy little bunny.

I’ve been either in Minnesota or in transit all week. I actually only spent two days in MN. Spent the rest of the time getting there and getting back. Have you ever traveled more than 1,000 miles via Greyhound? It can be an … um … interesting experience.

The presentation went really well, though, even though my co-presenter canceled due to ill health. I was told later that it’s just amazing the way I pull all those facts and figures off the top of my head. But then, that’s the whole point. My current strategy is to demonstrate to the world that I really do know what I’m talking about. So far, so good.

Now I’m back home and I can start to deal with the stuff I’ve probably been avoiding, if I’m at all honest with myself.

Well, to tell you the truth, I have so much to deal with right now that I’m feeling completely overwhelmed. I mean, completely.

So, I’ll do what I often do in situations like this. Do the most immediate things, the can’t-wait-till-the-brain-starts-working things. Like getting my newsletter out on time. That’ll probably occupy me for most of the weekend.

Then, I can let my heart keep on breaking later.

Like science fiction?

by Me on Mar.11, 2005, under Doing business

I figure if I can’t do shameless self-promotion in my own blog, where else can I do it?

Brighid’s Fire Books, the fiction imprint of my publishing company, has just released a new science fiction novel called The Dragon’s Lair (ISBN 0-9713278-2-3).

The Dragon’s Lair was the winner of my 2003 Annual Fiction Manuscript Contest. It’s a really great book. One of those that you can’t put down once you pick it up. Beautifully crafted work, full of suspense and adventure and pathos. This is work that decidedly transcends its genre.

You can buy it at Amazon or at LughnassadhBooks.com or you can buy it directly from the publisher (that would be me).
