As The Teen Turns
Baddest man in the whole damn town

I don’t know why but I was beginning to think that Kimmie would get all the way through high school without drama.
Well, actually, I do know why.
Gina is dramatic … and passionate, and she tends to take things very seriously. Given her personality, the teen drama just seemed to fit.
Kimmie, on the other hand, is not dramatic. She is cerebral, instead, and she tends to laugh at everything the way her mother does. Somehow, teen drama just doesn’t go with Kimmie.
But, of course, I was forgetting about all those other Turning Teens that share her high school with her.
So, in spite of the fact that I was more or less right here when this happened, I’m not sure if I’ve got this story straight or not — largely because it makes no sense.
We start with Billy. Billy is one of Kimmie’s ex-boyfriends. I think the happy couple lasted for about half an hour.
I have never met Billy … or, if I have, he did not retain a place in my memory. Make of that what you will.
So, let’s see. Billy called Anna and made some threats. Anna called Kimmie to tell her about them. Then (or before then, I’m a little fuzzy on the sequence of events here) Billy made some threats against Kimmie. Anna told Kimmie about those, too.
Billy said he was going to come here and kill Kimmie. Evidently, Anna was worried. Kimmie was not worried. She thought it was kind of funny.
Gina and Kimmie were discussing all the different ways they might kick his ass when I arrived on the scene. When I heard this tale, all I said (quite calmly) was, “I’d like to see him try.”
That, I was immediately given to understand, was a completely terrifying statement. According to everybody who lives in my house, I am a very scary individual.
So, I don’t really know very much about either Billy or Anna but if (as seems to me to be the case) the point of this exercise was to reduce Kimmie to a puddle of jelly cowering in her house, then it looks like The Mission Failed, Sir.
And Billy, who is one of Gino’s computer customers, may find a surprise awaiting him if he ever stops by to pick up a part he’s bought.

Teenagers have no nerve endings in their skin.
I used to think it was just teenaged boys, but I have since learned differently.
Say goodbye to Hollywood

Here’s our quote of the week — particularly appropriate after the last five days in As the Teen Turns-land. This was lifted from a Washington Post review of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by Desson Thomson:
“Wizardry is hard. But there are no spells to help negotiate the terrors of adolescence.”
Heh. You can say that again.
