Hit me with your best shot

Life is full of little (and I mean that) mysteries that occupy your mind when you have absolutely nothing else to think about.

This is one of those bathroom mysteries that, for me, ranks right up there with:

a) why can’t the boys ever lower the toilet seat?

and

b) why can no one in my house under the age of 25 operate a toilet roll?

Once upon a time, when I asked my children why they could never manage to get trash into the bathroom trash can, they said, “It’s too far away from the toilet.”

Evidently, the act of walking across the room with the piece of tissue or whatever impairs their ability to drop the debris into the trash can with accuracy. Or so they said.

Well, I try not to be unreasonable. I moved the trash can. Now, it is right at the elbow as one sits and contemplates the universe.

They still can’t manage to hit it.

Why?
