Upside down, standing on the ceiling

By Me | June 3, 2007

Sometimes, I do things because I have this funny idea that it’s good to be organized.

Sometimes, when I do those things, I regret them. I did one of those things today.

Every month, I print out a calendar with all the stuff I’m supposed to be doing that month typed neatly into the relevant day. Yes, that’s right; I’ve gotten to the point of scheduling myself to within an inch of my life, a month in advance.

June is going to be nuts.

First and foremost, Gina is going to be graduating from high school. That means there will be Music Awards Night, the Athletic Banquet, the Senior Reception, the Senior Trip, the Senior Banquet and the Senior Picnic. Fortunately, I don’t have to attend all of those but I do have to know when they are.

Then there are the meetings. Women Impacting Public Policy teleconference, town Democratic Committee meeting, county Democratic Committee meeting, county Democratic Committee annual dinner, town council meeting, and a certain amount of running around taking both David and Kimmie to med reviews during the month.

And on top of all that, I’ve got a return engagement in Spain this month that will neatly carve six days of my time out of the equation. For the record, three of those days will be spent in transit.

As of right now, the last week of the month is mostly empty - oh, didn’t I mention that all this stuff is crammed into three weeks, most of one of which I’ll be out of the country? - and I think, in the interests of self-preservation, I’m going to block out that time right now.

I’ll need it to recuperate.
